About: 18. The src/shell.c source code to the command-line shell is no
longer under version control. That file is now generated as part of the
build process.

Could you please briefly describe what sources shell.c is now generated
from?

Unrelated, but also about shell.c, there was a recent thread about

"Using .testcase and .check in continuous integration test"

where a 1-char change in shell.c resolved the OP's issue, which I thought
was a reasonable and logical one to make; and that thread also requested
your input on that change. Did you miss it?

Do you agree with that change? And is it in 3.21.0? Or likely to be in a
future release?

Thanks, --DD

That is ./src/shell.c.in .
Have a look at  ./Makefile.in for the dependencies.
